Hungerford Town FC play in the National League South, just two steps from the football league proper which is an amazing achievement for our small town.
Our junior section for boys and girls is thriving: they play a vital role in the success of our club overall and can be heard in large numbers supporting the team on match days. Our juniors supply the mascots and have the chance to play on the pitch in pre-match mini tournaments and in penalty shoot-outs at half-time.
As a community club, we are proud of the fact that all registered juniors get free entry to all home matches along with a parent or guardian who is also FOC under our free parent season ticket scheme, now supported by the National Lottery.
Some of our most talented juniors have the chance to join our registered football academy from the age of 16 and progress to join our first team squad as a semi-professional footballer. To date we have two graduates play for the 1st team, with one a current regular.
Over the last few seasons we have had 7 players move up the pyramid to become full-time professional players, so the dream is real for those who have ambitions.
Most importantly our juniors have fun, and enjoy playing with their friends and making new friends under great supervision from the volunteer coaches.
I would urge any youngster who wants to get involved to come down, meet the juniors and enjoy the fun.
See you on match day.
