Welling United v Hungerford Town
Where: Park View Road, DA16 1SY
When: 18th January 2020
K.O 3PM
The football Hungerford played at St Albans was arguably the best they've played this season. A tactical switch to a three at the back changed the game and it meant they dominated the second half; On another day it could've been five or six. That performance should be a confidence builder and the start of an unbeaten run starting this Saturday against a struggling Welling side.
Form guide- Welling have lost their last five league games most recently away to Wealdstone on Saturday. Hungerford fought back from two-goals down to draw with St Albans two weeks ago bouncing back from a loss on New Years day against Oxford City.
Team news - Welling captain Rob Swaine is a doubt after coming off injured against Wealdstone last weekend. New manager Bradley Quinton has recently added four new signings. Diaz Wright, Cameron James, Harold Joseph and Phil Roberts have all joined the London club. The Crusaders are assessing the fitness of Baboucarr Jarra, Jose Maturino Da Silva and Dan Bailey ahead of this game. Louis McGrory is building up his fitness but is still unavailable.
Star man - New signing Phil Roberts played with Quinton at Braintree two seasons ago scoring 17 goals in 30 appearances. Roberts therefore could be a pivotal asset in the Wings battle to avoid relegation. Joe Tomlinson was one of multiple players that put in an excellent performance at St Albans. Moving him further forward into a wing back position meant Tomlinson could become a greater attacking threat that ultimately helped in coming from two-goals down to draw the match.
Head to head - These sides met in September with Welling winning the contest 2-1. They also did the double over the Crusaders last season. Hungerford's only win came at Bulpit Lane in the first National League South meeting between the sides. Manager Ian Herring struck a late winner in that match.
