Hungerford Town v Welling United
When: 28th September 2019
Where: Bulpit Lane, RG17 0AY
K.O 3PM
An FA cup exit has done little to dampen the mood around Bulpit Lane. Confidence is high after that comeback win against Dulwich two weeks ago and hopes high that a second successive league win can come on Saturday. The players are starting to settle into life at Hungerford and the tough National League South. Welling are just four points ahead and if they think Saturday is going to be a stroll in the park, it will be far from it.
Form guide- Welling advanced in the FA last weekend with an emphatic 7-0 win over Chipstead. The Wings are winless in four league games with recent defeats against Wealdstone and Weymouth. Hungerford were beat 2-1 at Poole Town last weekend in the FA cup proceeding an excellent 3-2 away win at Dulwich Hamlet. Their last home game ended in a 2-1 defeat to St Albans City.
Team news- Danny Waldren is likely to make his league debut for the visitors otherwise Mark Goldberg should have a full squad to choose from. The hosts are likely to be without defender Akinwale Odiymayo and Mike Jones due to knee and foot injuries respectively suffered at Poole.
Star man- Adam Coombes will be the Wings main attacking threat able to play down the middle or on the flanks. He has four goal so far in the league this season. The striker on the opposite side is Liam Ferdinand. The Crusaders striker has two goals in his last two games to open his account for the club.
Head to head- Welling won both meetings last season. A 3-1 win at Park View Road followed up by a narrow 1-0 victory at Bulpit Lane. They also won both matches in the 2017/18 season, 3-2 at home and 4-1 away. However, in 2016/17 Hungerford were unbeaten. A 1-0 home win before a 0-0 draw in Kent.
