Torquay United v Hungerford Town
Where: Plainmoor, Devon, TQ1 3PS
When: 22nd April 2019 (Bank holiday Monday)
K.O 3PM
Hungerford visit the home of the champions knowing they still need points. Not an ideal situation. It will be an incredible occasion at Plainmoor where Torquay will lift the national league south title after the match. Gary Johnson has done a wonderful job in Devon, starting his reign with a win in the reverse fixture. That day was the catalyst for their title charge. This would be the biggest shock of the season but if Hungerford can pull it off they would be confident of staying up for another year.
Form guide- The hosts lost last time out 2-1 away to Chippenham for the first time in 8 games. They had already secured the title the week before after beating Eastbourne Borough 2-0 at home. The visitors ended a 2 game losing streak with a 0-0 draw with Bath on Friday. In their last away game they lost 3-1 to Dulwich Hamlet.
Team news- Saikou Janneh has returned to parent club Bristol City so will not be available for the Gulls otherwise Gary Johnson should have a full squad to choose from. Ian Herring has also got a full squad to choose from apart from left back Matt Jones.
Star man- Striker Jamie Reid has propelled the Gulls to the title with 28 league goals this season. He’ll be eager to get to 30 goals before the season ends. With top scorer Danilo Orsi-Dadomo dropped to the bench on Friday fellow striker Conor Lynch got a chance to impress. Despite not scoring the lively front man caused the Bath defence problems with his hard work ethic and electric pace.
Head to head- These sides have only met once before with Torquay claiming a 2-0 victory over the Crusaders back in September.
