Hungerford Town v Bath City
Where: Bulpit Lane, RG17 0AY
When: 19th April 2019 (Good Friday)
K.O 3PM
Time is running out. Two successive defeats have dropped Hungerford back into the relegation zone. Games against Slough and Dulwich were perfect opportunities to extend a 5 game unbeaten run and secure safety. However, those games were all but done in the first half and with a trip to Torquay next Monday 3 points are a necessity here. It won’t be any easy game even if Bath have struggled for form recently. 5 games without a win and they could be in danger of slipping out the play offs. It’s all to play for at the Bulpit!
Form guide- Bath are winless in 5 games, including a damaging defeat to fellow play off hopefuls St Albans last weekend. That came after another damaging defeat to 3rd placed Welling and 3 successive draws. Hungerford have lost their last 2 games against Slough and Dulwich, that proceeded an unbeaten March.
Team news- The visitors seem to have no new injury concerns for the short trip to Berkshire. The hosts should also have everyone available apart from left back Matt Jones and midfielder Richie Whittingham.
Star man- Attacker Ross Stearn has 12 goals for the season and will be a key figure if the Romans are to claim the three points but he is on a goal scoring drought at the moment. For the Crusaders, despite a 3-1 defeat, midfielder Mike Jones stood out in the centre of the park. His areal and physical presences have given Hungerford a different dimension in midfield.
Head to head- Earlier on in the season Bath cruised to a 4-1 home win likewise to last season when they won 5-0 at Twerton Park. That game completed the double over Hungerford after a 2-1 away win. In 2016/17 both games ended in draws on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
