Hungerford Town v Billericay Town
Where: Bulpit Lane RG17 OBE
When: 17th November 2018
K.O 3PM
Top of the table Billericay visit Bulpit Lane on Saturday knowing three points gets them another step closer to their target of the national league. Hosts Hungerford are in need of points as well. Having slipped into the bottom three they’re now 3 points from safety after Truro City’s later winner against Dulwich Hamlet last Sunday. However Billericay’s two league defeats this season have both been away from home to Chippenham Town and Woking. Plus, they have their eyes looking at an Fa cup replay against national league side Chesterfield. Maybe the form book is wrong for this game.
Form guide- Billericay were in Fa cup action against Chesterfield at the weekend holding them to a 1-1 draw. In the league they’ve won once in their last three, coming in October against fellow strugglers East Thurrock having come from two goals down to win 3-2. On the other side is Hungerford who’ve not won in 3. Losses to Woking, Weston and Eastbourne have seen the Crusaders drop into the relegation zone after beating Hampton and Richmond 2-0.
Team news- The blues might make chances with their Fa cup replay on the horizon next week but otherwise could name their strongest team. Crusaders forward Darren Foxley pulled up with a hamstring injury in Tuesday night’s game against Beaconsfield. Ramone Rose should be back from the same problem but Tarik Moore-Azill is still not ready but is starting to train again.
Star man- Look no further than the league’s top goal scorer Jake Robinson. The visiting striker has 12 goals so far this season and at 31 has a wealth of experience. Starting off at Brighton he became their youngest ever scorer. Since then he’s played a magnificent career and was at Hemel Hempstead before joining Billericay for £24,000 in 2016. Hungerford will have to somehow keep him at an arm’s length come Saturday afternoon and loanee Josh Martin could do that job. The centre back has been my star man before for his excellent performances since joining the club last month. He’s composed on the ball but seems to love the art of defending.
Head to head- This is there first time in the national league south together but met each other 3 times last season. It was firstly in the Fa cup where Hungerford held the blues to a 1-1 draw before getting thrashed 6-1 in Essex. They were then drawn against each other in the Fa Trophy where Billericay prevailed 2-0 in Berkshire.
