Eastbourne Borough v Hungerford Town
Where- Priory Lane, Eastbourne, B23 7QH
When- 10th October 2018
K.O 3PM
11 points and 5 places separate these sides. Eastbourne are 15th and Hungerford sit in the relegation zone. It’s all getting tight at the bottom. Truro have seem to have got momentum on their side, Weston picked up their first three points whilst East Thurrock, Gloucester City and Oxford City are the other sides nervously looking down rather than up. Therefore this game in East Sussex provides a good opportunity for these sides to get back to winning ways. An exciting game could be in store as well with 9 goals provided in the last two league fixtures down on the south coast.
Form guide-Eastbourne are in mixed form. On Saturday they lost their unbeaten away record narrowly at Chelmsford. Before that they had 2 home games, drawing 2-2 with Hampton and Richmond after swatting aside Hemel Hempstead 3-0. On the other hand Hungerford are in poor form. A loss to bottom of the table Weston capped off their under performing season so far. They lost 3-0 to Woking last Wednesday after beating Hampton and Richmond 2-0 last Saturday. That win got them their first league points since August Bank holiday Monday.
Team news- Borough have no reported injury team news but did lose attacker Alfie Rutherford to parent club Havant and Waterlooville last week. His previous attacking partners won’t have to face Hungerford defender Tarik Moore-Azill who is still out. Romone Rose is a doubt with a hamstring problem.
Star man- Charlie Walker is one of the Sports biggest threats up front. In 2014 he signed for Luton Town in league 2 and has also played for Aldershot in the national league. He was at St Albans last season scoring 16 goals in 67 appearances before signing for Eastbourne. He will be marked by Crusaders on loan star Joshua Martin. He’s an assured centre back who likes to get on the ball and occasionally makes driving runs into the midfield. He scored on his first appearance for the club against Hampton and Richmond Borough.
Head to Head- Eastbourne did the double over the Crusaders last season. They won 1-0 at Bulpit lane before comfortably beating them 4-1 at Priory Lane. In 2016/17 the Sports won 2-0 away but had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home. Therefore Hungerford are still looking for their first national league south win over Saturdays opponents.
