The score line however did not reflect what a hard fought game it was
The home side started really quickly. Kyle Tooze picked the ball up on the right side of the box and fired in a cross into the six yard box. A panicking Chertsey defender could only divert the ball into the roof of his own net however. A spectacular if not unfortunate goal. Tooze also picking up his club leading 7th assist of the season in only his 11th game
After that it was somewhat of a battle. Tooze and his strike partner Jose Marquez causing problems but often just caught offside. Brad Hooper and Curtis Angell both provided chances for the strike duo but they had their attempts blocked
The home side had to kick up the famous Bulpit Lane slope in the second period and this initially put Chertsey on the front foot. Ryan Clarke produced two amazing saves in the first ten minutes of the second half. The latter one an one handed tip around the post low down was particularly memorable.
Joe Shepherd felt he should have had a penalty on the hour when pushed over in the box during a Hooper taken corner. It was not given but Shepherd had a strong case. By now Danny Robinson had introduced Joe Beardwell for his debut and he got on the end of an Angell cross after 70 minutes but could only head over.
With a minute to go however the debutante got his goal. Angell played him in down the left and Beardwell made a good run and superb finish across the keeper to secure the points. This goal really broke the away side and another Hungerford sub Jordon Ibe added some stardust to the match with a run from the half way line and finish past the keeper that really showed his class, to make it three. Much to the delight of a vocal Bulpit crowd who were fully behind the team
