It was pacey winger Jacob Bancroft who finished low into the corner after a Zindane Akers shot was only half cleared. The ball fell to Bancroft after Akers shot was only half blocked, the wingers low cross shot finish too good for Aaron Sainsbury in Yates net.
Moments later Luke Softley had to head the ball off the line to keep Hungerford’s lead in tact in a lively start to the game
After that despite long spells of Yate possession Hungerford keeper Ryan Clarke had little to do. Indeed it was Akers again who nearly scored close to half time heading over a Rhys Tyler cross.
Early in the second half Bancroft again had a cross shot this time Sainsbury saved and the rebound was just taken off Akers toe with some last ditch defending.
On the hour Akers produced a top class save from Sainsbury after he got another dangerous Tyler cross on target.
With ten to go James Harding saw goal chalked out for Hungerford for a foul on Sainsbury who looked like he clattered into his own defender
Fabio Lopes should have finished things when after Elis Watts had beaten half the defence to force another save from the busy Sainsbury, Lopes could only sky his chance with the goal at his mercy.
Yate with a desperate last throw of the dice saw a very late penalty appeal waved away after a superb block from Matt Berry-Hargreaves. Hungerford nearly punished for not finishing off the game
