The keeper, who ironically was making his first appearance for the club, came off second best in a challenge and he was treated on the field for 45 minutes before being stretchered off and taken to hospital by ambulance.
Congleton secretary Ken Mead said: "At this stage we are not sure how serious the injury is, but it was fairly clear Jonathan has suffered a bad leg break. He needed to be given morphine by the paramedics on the field prior to being moved into the ambulance, and was obviously in a lot of pain.
"Manager Joe Paladino has gone to the hospital to find the latest situation and we will be keeping in close touch with him, and the staff at the hospital."
It was goalless when Ritchie was injured, but the visitors took advantage, going on to net six without reply, including a Mark Keddie hat-trick.

In a similar tale to that of the game at Silsden, it was the NWCL side who led after 9 minutes through Omar Mahmoud, only for Swifts to snatch an 86th minute leveller.
AFC Blackpool held high-flying Evo-Stik First Division North AFC Fylde to a 1-1 derby draw in which Lee Thorpe gave the visitors a 10th minute lead that Niall Cummins cancelled out on the hour-mark.
Eccleshall held Baker Joiner Midland Alliance hosts Alvechurch to a 1-1 draw in which Robbie Molloy`s 17th minute opener for the visitors was pulled back by Michael Woolman on 32 minutes.
Internal NWCL affairs saw Squires Gate beat Atherton Collieries, courtesy of a 54th minute Andrew Harvie effort, and Maine Road and Ashton Athletic shared a goalless draw.
NWCL sides bowing out included Bootle, beaten 3-1 at Evo-Stik First Division North Woodley Sports, whose Gary Furnival, Dave Dempsey and an own goal outgunned Jamie Hay for the visitors, Cheadle Town beaten at Woodley`s league rivals Trafford 3-0 – the home side`s goals coming from Niall Baynia and a Tom Benson brace, while Holker Old Boys lost by the same scoreline at Radcliffe Borough, whose Griff Jones also scored twice, and Mark Stewart also bagged a brace as Cammell Laird beat Atherton LR 3-1 at home.
Lancaster City won 4-1 at Formby with goals from Lee Dodgson, Simon Wells, an Alex McEneay spot-kick and Danny Hattersley – Connor Belger for Formby – and First Division South side Romulus beat Norto United 3-1 at Coles Lane with Chris Robinson on target twice.
There were, however, a handful of `shocks` involving Evo-Stik Northern Premier League sides.

Tommy Waldock scored a last-minute winner with his second goal of the afternoon with Tom Lorraine also bagging a brace for the Motormen after Callum Wooward had bagged a brace for the home side.

Wantage Town played Abingdon United and lost a closely fought contest by the odd goal in three, despite taking an early lead through Rich Claydon.
Two Hellenic teams came up against Toolstation Western League opposition, Shortwood United drew one-a-piece with Bishops Sutton and Slimbridge lost out to Cadbury Heath in a close 2-1 encounter with Paul Carter finding the net for the Swans.

Twenty Evo-Stik League Southern clubs progressed to the First Qualifying Round, with Division One South & West side Yate Town leading the way registering a 10-1 home win over Toolstation Western League First Division outfit Melksham Town.
Robin Nicholls netted a hat-trick and both Ed Vahid and Russ Church doubles for Yate.
Hungerford Town scored in the opening minute through Luke Hopper to go through with a 1-0 victory at another Western League side, Shrewton United, whereas Beaconsfield SYCOB scored in time added through Fiston Manuella on to win 2-1 at home against Division One Central rivals Northwood, who had led from a 13th minute Wayne O`Sullivan penalty that had been cancelled out by Lee Barney.
Biggleswade Town scored four times in the first half, including a Harry Hunt brace, and were leading 5-1 midway through the second half but had to settle for a replay when their visitors, Essex Senior League new boys Haringey & Waltham Development, hit back to score four in the time remaining.
Some `surprises` saw Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) side Moneyfields oust Division One South & West Gosport Borough 2-1 with Jack Lee and Steve Hutchings outgunning Justin Bennett for Boro.
Midland Alliance side Rocester`s Chris Sterling bagged a brace in the final 19 minutes to beat Division One South & West Halesowen Town, whose Nav Arshad had given the Yeltz a 28th minute lead.
Carlsberg South West Peninsula League side Buckland Athletic will fancy their chances now after fighting out a 1-1 draw at Wordsworth Drive against Division One South & West side Taunton Town
Former Taunton favourite Antony Lynch, now boss of Buckland, would have been the more delighted of the two managers.
Taunton, 6-2 winners over Bridgwater Town earlier in the week, had much more of the play in the second half but failed to take their chances with both Rodney Marsh and Darren Rice having shots cleared off the goal-line.
It was another of Taunton's ex-players, Gary Fisher, who put the visitors ahead, scoring from close range following a pass from Danny Lewis, who has also played for the Wordsworth Drive outfit.
Buckland, who led 1-0 at half-time, found themselves under the cosh in the second half and Danny Lane headed an equaliser, following up to score after a shot had hit a post.
