BRIDGWATER Town manager Rob Dray has persuaded experienced midfielder Andy Gurney to join the club.

He joins from Mangotsfield United, with the paperwork being completed last week.

He is an experienced central midfielder, who signed for Mangotsfield United in July 2010, after resigning from his post as Manager of Weston-super-Mare in 2009.

He began his career at Bristol Rovers where he made 108 appearances between 1993 and 1997 before being released.

He moved to Torquay United in 1997 which led to a £100,000 move to Reading in January 1999.

He moved to Swindon in 2001 and was named captain. Although he made 150 appearances for The Robins, it came as a surprise when he left for Swansea City after the start of the 2004/05 campaign.

He returned to Swindon but an ankle injury led to his retirement from the professional game. Since then, he has played for Clevedon Town, Weston-super-Mare and Havant & Waterlooville, Weston again and Newport County.
