Hungerford Town FC is extremely disappointed in the Football Association’s decision to axe FA Cup replays from the 2024/25 season and we stand in solidarity with all other clubs and supporters who have expressed their outrage at this nonsensical decision. Replays have long formed a traditional and exciting aspect of the FA Cup and to kowtow to the wishes of just 2% of the competing teams is in our view shameful.

As with all clubs dreaming of a famous cup run, Hungerford Town recently paid its 2024/25 entry fee only for the FA to literally ‘change the goal posts’ within a couple of weeks.

We call on the FA to suspend these changes with immediate effect, conduct a thorough and proper consultation with all parties, and do what they are there to do, protect the interests of the game for all and not just the Premier League clubs.
